When Do You Need a Second Opinion?
Patients who have been working with their doctor for some time may begin to feel as if the initial experienced gains have plateaued. Alternatively, they may begin to develop new symptoms or difficulties that warrant additional options or recommendations for treatment and medication. Whatever the situation, a second opinion could help.
Through an in-depth analysis of your condition, what you tried, what worked and what didn’t, the specialists at AMHC can offer a second opinion. We can reevaluate your current medications and incorporate both traditional and alternative treatments to help ensure that you are provided with the most effective options and interventions. Furthermore, recommendations regarding your treatment plan or areas to explore further with your current psychotherapist can help recharge your therapeutic process and get you back on track toward achieving your goals. If desired, we will collaborate with your treating physician/therapist and share our recommendations upon completion of the evaluation, as well as with any member of your family.
Specialized evaluations are available for many situations, among them:
Unclear diagnosis or co-occurring disorder
Treatment resistant mood disorders (depression, bipolar, and others)
Treatment resistant anxiety disorders (panic attacks, generalized anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, and others)
Treatment resistant psychotic disorder
Psychiatric disorders affected by or influencing concurrent serious medical illness (e.g. depression and heart disease, anxiety and thyroid disease, organ transplantation, etc.)
If you feel you may benefit from receiving a second opinion, please do not hesitate to contact AMHC with any further questions about these services, or to schedule an appointment.
