Nutrition

It is too common to be ashamed of and too serious to ignore. Nearly thirty percent of the american population are entering the obese range. It is harder to lose calories as we get older and become more sedentary from time constraints or arthritis. Our weight impacts our health, longevity, lifestyle and the way we feel about ourselves in society.

Our psychiatrists will conduct a thorough evaluation into your weight and diet history, food preferences, lifestyle and current emotional and physical health. If indicated further laboratory tests may be required. A diet will be tailored for your individual needs and if necessary medications will be prescribed as well. When appropriate, we will arrange a referral for surgery.

All of our patients have individual support and close follow up to ensure that the treatment plan is tolerable and successful.  For many patients, the Weight Loss phase is accomplished using a low calorie food replacement program called Optifast. This is followed by a Weight Maintenance phase, where patients learn how to maintain their ideal weight.

Weekly Group therapy is available and highly recommended.
